Restore with Vaginal Tightening Procedure

Reclaim. Restore. Revive.

Worldwide, women want to reclaim their younger or pre-baby bodies, restore their well-being, and revive their relationships. At Dr. Charon Gentile and Heather Fanguy, FNP, in Houma, LA, we offer a non-invasive procedure with ThermiVa. Give us a call at (985) 873-7244 to schedule your appointment.

How ThermiVa Works?

ThermiVa is a non-surgical vaginal tightening treatment for women who want to reclaim what childbirth or aging may have taken away from them. ThermiVa applications deliver controlled thermal energy to the desired areas. The application heats tissue to rejuvenate collagen without discomfort or downtime. ThermiVa includes three separate treatments over three months. No anesthesia is required and performed in the office, eliminating the need to go to a surgery center or hospital. Weight Loss & Diet

Fitness is such an important part of health. Many of us are constantly trying to control our weight through dieting. Dieting alone can have a negative effect on muscle mass. Weight loss is associated with not only loss of fat tissue but also loss of lean muscle mass.  Adequate protein intake during dieting is essential to protect against lean muscle loss. Muscle toning also protects against lean muscle loss. Increasing muscle mass makes you look slimmer by decreasing and compressing overlying adipose tissue (fat).

What are the benefits of increased lean muscle mass?

  1. Increase Metabolism: Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than fat tissue. More lean muscle mass increases metabolism and makes it easier to maintain a healthy weight.
  2. Improved Strength. Increased lean muscle mass improves strength, endurance, and overall physical performance.  This enhances your ability to perform daily and physical activities, including exercise.
  3. Better Balance and Coordination: Strong muscles support your body and improve your balance and coordination. This reduces the risk of falls and injuries. This is especially important as we age.
  4. Bone Healthy. Regular strength training, resistance training, and muscle-building exercises improve bone density and reduce the occurrence of weak and brittle bones.
  5. Disease Prevention: Increased lean muscle mass decreases the risk of chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers.

A Women’s Checklist

Review the list below for the cancer-related exams and tests you'll need, depending on your age and medical history. For additional information or to set an appointment, call 985-873-7244.

  • Physical exams:

A cancer-related checkup should include an examination of your entire body for early signs of skin cancer and specific exams for cancers of the thyroid, mouth, ovaries, and lymph nodes.

  • Breast cancer:

Women 40 or older should have a yearly mammogram and clinical breast exam. Women ages 20-39 need a clinical breast exam every three years. Breast self-exam (BSE) is an option for women starting in their 20s.

Women at increased risk (e.g., family history, genetic tendency, past breast cancer) should talk with their doctors about the benefits and limitations of starting mammography screening earlier, having additional tests (e.g., breast ultrasound or MRI), or having more frequent exams.

  • Cervical cancer:

Cervical cancer screening should begin at 21 years of age. It should be done every three years using liquid-based Pap tests from ages 21 to 29.

At or after age 30, women screened with a liquid-based Pap test, and HPV (human papillomavirus) may be screened every 5 years. A doctor may suggest getting the test more often if a woman has certain risk factors, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection or a weakened immune system.

Women between the ages of 65 to 70 and older who have had 3 or more consecutive normal Pap tests or 2 normal Pap smears with a negative HPV and no abnormal Pap tests in the past 10 years may choose to stop cervical cancer screening.

Screening after a total hysterectomy (with the cervix's removal) is unnecessary unless the surgery was done as a treatment for cervical cancer or precancer. Women who have had a hysterectomy without removal of the cervix should continue to follow the guidelines above.

Uterine/Endometrial cancer: Beginning at 35, women with hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (or at high risk for it) should ask about an annual endometrial biopsy.

  • Ovarian cancer:

Regular pelvic and rectal exams are important for detecting ovarian cancer as early as possible.

  • Colon cancer:

All women 50 or older need to follow one of these five testing schedules:

    • Yearly stool blood test
    • Flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years
    • Yearly stool blood test and flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years (preferred over either option alone)
    • Double-contrast barium enema every five years
    • Colonoscopy every ten years

Please feel free to call us (985-873-7244) with any questions regarding these women's health exams or to schedule an appointment for a women's health exam.
